Some of you like to see what's up in my tank from time to time. You know who you are.;)

Well, here's what's been going on. I added two Parachromis sp. "la ceiba yellowhead" hoping for a pair. As it turns out, I got two males. They're about 5" and 6". I'll keep them for a couple of months and keep the best looking one. Both of these came from Ken Davis originally, I got them from a local club member. If you saw the thread, it was discussed that there are only two breeding wild caught pairs of these in existance. One is with Ken Davis and one with Rusty Wessel. Jeff Rapps sells Rusty's fry and Ken sells his own. So, to keep the line pure and to keep from inbreeding, I'll need a female from Rusty's stock. These fish are cool in every way. They seem to be much more "wild" than other F1's I have.

I also got what I think is a female Parachromis loiselli at about 4". I know it's a loiselli, I think it's a female is a better way to put it. I am hoping she will pair up with the other lone male loiselli. She's still small for that though. Time will tell.

If you recall, when I added the dovii, I got a tiny Texas as well to serve as a distraction and so the dovii wouldn't be the smallest in the tank. The Texas is doing well but isn't part of my long term plans. He's served his purpose pretty well and I'll be moving him out soon.

I am considering selling my smaller pair of breeding jags to make room for a freddy pair. I will be adding a freddy or two for sure. I am still up in the air as to whether or not it will be necessary to get rid of the smaller jag pair to do so, but it probably will. I have a local source for freddys, but the ones available are still quite small at about 2". I'd like to wait until they're at least 4" to 5" to add them.

I am also still tossing around the idea of a female dovii. I think it would serve as a distraction for the male and maybe keep him happier. But, with breeding comes fry protection, so this could be a negative. Like I said, I'm not yet sure, but I'd like to do it. My ultimate long term goal has always been (and still is) to have all the Parachromis together and breeding.

As to everyone else in the tank, it's the same old, same old. More babies every four to six weeks. I've added some more plants and taken out some java moss. Fish count is now high, borderline too high. I'll have to make a move or two to do what I want. But other than that, everything's pretty nice in my fish world. Well, except the cost of feeding, lol.:D

Thanks for putting up with my jibber jabber. Here's your reward. Photos are merely for scientific research, not for "showing off". I took these tonight and had more, but they sucked.

Parachromis dovii male, now about 8", still dark but coming out of his shell. He'll end up nice, lots of potential. He's got a lot of bule on the fins that didnt show up...

Awesome tank, I am hoping to do a mini version of this with my 220. Basically all the parachromis except dovii (but not breeding pairs to keep aggression down) this tank is incredible. keep us updated Im wicked jealous!!

That was my original plan. My thinking was adding dovii was impossible. I just couldn't leave well enough alone.:D
