Just pulled the trigger on 5 of each kind from Jeff Rapps. I guess 5 of each is enough to end up with a pair? From what I gather the red tail Bahias are rare...id hate to not have a pair and not be able to get more lol. But Jeff thinks 5 should do it....my wallet thinks so.

Has anyone kept the Bahia oscars or seen them? I have seen one thread on here about them in the media lounge.

Very cool. Just saw the other thread with pics. Probably going to be some good looking fish!

Yeah I had just been talking to Jeff the last 2 days about them...he just got them in yesterday. I am wondering if those in the other thread are the ones he has been telling me about...he said he has only seen them imported twice into the US...so that might have been the other batch. He did say the new ones he just got looked better than the last batch he got...idk if that was a sales ploy...but it worked lol.

and the peru's that he has pictured on his site is the parent of the ones I am getting...so if it looks anything like those it will be a good looking fish too.

Here are some pics...

this is one Jeff sent to me/and its on his site for the peru's...this is supposed to be the father of the ones im getting. I hope they get even close to this!

and this is a shot he sent of the Bahias...these have a little more red I think than the ones in the other thread. The more red on them the better :D

They just look like any old Oscar to me :S with a more vivid eye spot.

agreed. Whats the difference? red vs. orange?

Probably not a whole lot except that there from wild parents and will look a little different than the regular oscars...different coloring patterns and body shape....like the vivid eye spot you see...it can get lost in the LFS oscars. Some people like the more true oscars than what you find in the lfs. I am trying to get a few things to breed for fun and im trying to stick with wild or f1's. I have a WC festae proven pair and im about to get a 9fish WC colony of Moba Frontosas.

And export from Brazil on fish is iffy....im not 100% sure but I think its cutoff. So that makes the Bahia's a harder fish to come by.

The price on the Peru's are probably inline with the reg tiger and red oscars...maybe a tad more...I paid 7.50 for 2.5-3". The bahias are pricey for an O at 35ea for 2.5"...but this is supposedly only the 2nd time they are imported into the US. Maybe it will be worth it...time will tell....

Dunno if you are being sarcastic...but i see red ones everywhere.
