Thanks to everyone who helped me when I had some problems getting these fish and after they arrived. They both seem to be getting better and are much more active. Plus they both eat like pigs!

They were both sold as texas. Looking at the smaller one I think he's a red texas that never faded. I can see a lot of red in his fins, but I don't know much about red texas. Look at the pics and tell me what you think, he's the one who still has a black line.

neither of them are true texas look at how big the "spots" on them are. They're both texas hybrids but I can't say whether or not they'll ever be red texas.

this picture especially shows what I am talking about

who was the seller? I know I remember somebody trying to sell some frankenstein texas on fhcraze I'm sure it's the same guy.

Lol, I like the term "frankenstein texas." The seller was Leo_Beer. He sells a lot of red texas so I kinda figured these guys weren't pure. I went back and forth with myself for a while whether or not to get these or a true texas, but I just loved the look of these guys. I'm hoping they turn out even nicer as they grow.

Yeah I think he was the one who had a bunch of adults posted on aquabid and flowerhorncraze. The guys overseas could care less about pure strains of fish they create what they like. I'm all for pure fish but some of the texas they made are actually really sweet. I wish I could find the thread I saw of them selling big 10-12" ones priced around $100-200 they were awesome.

I can't wait until these guys hit 10". Don't think I can keep both of them at that size though they're already arguing now. I'm kinda hoping either one of them's a female or my big jagxtexas is a female because I think they'd make interesting babies.

After adding it all up I think I paid a little under $200 for these two and a bonsai female flowerhorn for my sister (I'm not allowed to post pics of her. My sister will when she gets back from vacation). They were pricey (maybe I got screwed) but I really fell in love with the way they looked, especially the larger one.

They're cool and they're worth whatever they're worth to you and that's all that matters. I would have taken a $5 texas home from the LFS and hoped for the best but that's what you wanted. You could have ordered some of julies red texas for $25 a piece or so too. Don't forget to haggle with the sellers either.
