Have to agree the escondito is a show stopper!!! I want him.. Your never going to sell him are you? :(

I love that big Salvini! Yours is the only one that I have seen at that size. Did it lose its brighter colors as it matured or do they return with mood or breeding?

Never:D!!!!!

Males do tend to loose some color as they mature. Although this is a different collection then most so it is a little different. Strangely enough he turns blazing yellow when he spawns.

You don't see many that size because they are so aggressive. They either pick a fight they can't win or kill a bunch of fish and the owner gets rid of them.

looking good jd

what made you switch from SA to CA?

I got tired of messing with my tap water. I still have a few SA but mainly ones that come from harder water like the brasilensis group or festae, red hump group, etc. To be honest I like CA cichlids better anyway. You just have to have lots of tank space to keep them. My madagascars give me a unique challenge and CA cichlids come in every color and shape you can think of so I think I'm set;).

Great pics and stock:) you definitely have some really nice fish. how big is the female istlanum? she looks a breedable size. from my expirience with them you'll most likely have to work with a divider for a lil while if not the whole time. have you thought of placing her with male in divided tank? she might just do the deed thru the divider untill shes big enough to deal with the male without the divider. i know if you do spawn them ill be hitting you up;)
