Got this great new bio filter for the pond. It holds over 90 gal of bioballs and has a spinning arm to distribute the water evenly over them. It will be fed by a prefiltered 3500gph pump to a external pressurized pond filter with UV and then up to the spinning arm and then just gravity feeds back into the water. Pretty cool setup I think.

Congrats on a 'BIG' find :headbang2.

We just had a question on that type of spray bar, I thought those had been dead for years... Where did you score that one from & who is the manufacturer?

Can you get us a couple of close-up pix of the spinning spray bar (joint) ?

Keep us posted on the install.

Thanks for sharing,

thats a sweet set up.... i wanted to get one of those spraybars too but cant find crap on them...

Does it just spin from the way the holes are drilled? What allows it to pivot?

I'd love to mimic that on top of my current wet/dry.

I cant find such spinners in any pet store around here.
When I lived in Seattle I saw a few for sale about 10 years ago, but when I asked the owner about his spinner he said he had problems with it stopping all the time.

I would love to learn how to make a DIY big spinner as seen in the photos here.
I mean, look at the size of that thing!
But I dont know what type of fittings would be needed to make a good DIY spinner?

My guess is that there is a fitting I need to get thats not found at a Lumbermart right?

That is an older model wet and dry. Been looking to duplicate the arm for a long time. It requires a special fitting which rotate the PVC pipe. The holes has nothing to do with the spinning. It only distribute the water. The drip tray is now more commenly use. The only problem with the spinning arm is that is clog after so long and require much more attention than the drip tray.

Anyways, sweet pickup! let me know when you are tire of it, i'll take it off of you.:D:naughty:

Correction, the angle of the holes and the water pressure are what make it spin (note the picture).

Holes clog up and slip joint wears out and leaks and stops the spinning too.

You are correct in that they are more trouble than the cool factor they give.

(side note: These problems occurred in S/W systems w/o a pre-filter mainly)
