I have heard , sounds far fetched as i have never heard of this before, but someone said.

put a little bit of vodka every couple of days in your tank.
this will boost immensely and encourage bacteria to hasten the cycling process. apparently ethanol is great food and vodka is a pure drink, no colouring etc and doesnt harm fish in small doses.

i am interested in boosting the bacteria that consumes AMONIA, someone suggested the above.
anyone heard of this, any feedback?
is this bull droppings?
or true?

any ways of boosting immensely the bactera levels to consume amonia?

i would have thought that vodka would of killed anything off, considering its killed off half my brain cells so far lol

If used in a cycled tank with fish, heres the story.

Vodka + Fish = Dead Fish.
Dead Fish = Bacteria.

If used in a tank that is going through the nitrogen cycle, it would just be a waste of a good drink.

 good point.

Durring euthanasia, after you do the clove oil thing to put them to sleep, don't you use vodka to kill them?

Supposedly you're supposed to use vodka to help dissolve the clove oil. This is not necessary and is probably cruel to the fish. To best kill them, put them to sleep with clove oil, then OD them on it.
