Sometimes they just ignore smaller lures even if you bump them with it. When that happens, I switch to this Bomber Long A lures to get their attention.

Got this two females from two separate pairs with 2 - 3 inch fries and released to rejoin their brood.
# 111 is a 14 inch female




# 112 is a 15 inch female

The windy conditions was not a favorable condition for PB fishing. Previous knowledge and can do attitude produced four catches.

The windy conditions and strong water flow made it a very bad situation for fishing. Went anyway just for the exercise. Was very hard to see the fish due to conditions so I just made my casts in spots which produced many hook ups in the past. For motivation i started with spots with less strikes and worked around the lake from less strikes spots to most strikes spots.

After covering a mile with not even a bite, kept on, knowing that the best spots were yet to come. Caught a pair in the next mile and two more in two different spots in the last mile. Here's today's foursome, all released

Have you tried the new SPRO BBZ? That lure gets you crazy too, 8inch lure and you can catch small 1lbers on it..lol I've seen a video of the creator Bill Siamantel catching crappie on the 8inch lure too.


And also, I'm a CAlifornian so I'm not familiar with all your peacock bass' but why does everybody hold them by their gills? Do they have teeth?

No, I have not tried those lures.

PB here have no teeth but they have razor sharp blades in their mouth quite capable of cutting up your fingers if you hold them by their lips. I grab them by the gills basically to paralyze them to prevent them moving when held. Don't how others hold newly caught very much alive peas still to take pictures without damaging their hands.
