I needed to clean out the subtrate, so I figured between the back of my truck, the garrage and under the sink I should be able to make somethin.

Taigon tubing, plastic hangars, zip ties, and some promo water bottle from the fair or something is what I started with.
one end goes on the filter intake, the other in the subtrate. this way I can clean out the subtrate, then clean out the filter, then do a water change without making 10 trips in and out with a bucket.

I agree,, python all the way.
The problem I see with your set-up is you can't see in the water bottle and, the bottle is too short. You're going to wind up sucking stuff up that you don't want to suck up, & you won't know it until it's too late.
Great ingenuity though,, keep it up.
