has anyone tried this new 3 mm pellet from dainichi suppossd to be made for the bigger ca/as cichlids. Good for bringing out the blues and greens. Decent amount of protein. Fish meal krill and sprlinua. I want to try it but I want to see if anyone else has gave it a shot. Its a sinking pellet too. Which is good. My cichlids absolutly hate floating pellets.

Do you have a link? I could search it myself, but this is your thread so lead us to it my Friend :) Lets see what we come up with :)

I've used there food and loved it. I just recently ran out and Big Al's doesn't sell it. I ussually get it when I go to the ACA but i missed it this past year. My fish do really well on that food for some reason so I'm looking farward to trying the new pellet. Excellent food!

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I think they have the best food from an ingredient/process standpoint. I've been feeding my Oscars the Primary Krill for a few weeks now as I found it at my not so LFS. Not to knock Hikari but they use monosodium glutamate which is bad for humans otherwise it would be great. I was using Wardley but they and most others use ethoxyquin which is a supposedly toxic preservative. Artificial colors and flavors are bad too and have been linked to ADD in humans.
Anyway one thing I really like about the Dainichi is that they vitamin coating is added after the baking process to preserve the vitamins. This is a huge benefit b/c cooking kills beneficial enzymes and other nutrients which is why a raw foods diet is great for your health but hard to do and kinda expensive. Also, the clay is said to contain essential minerals which are passed on to the water also. For my tropical tank I'm using Aqueon as they don't have any artifical stuff or preservatives as Dainichi doesn't make a small enough food for them.
I hope this was beneficial information and I am not linked to the companies at all but read alot of labels to find those 2 brands as I have learned quite a bit about human food issues through plenty of reading and trying. One thing that is interesting is that nitrates in lunch meat, table salt, and chlorine in the water is deemed safe but many say that it really isn't and all 3 end up being common knowledge as deadly to fish. It's all about the dosage I would say, a tiny amount won't kill you right away.
