Oscar maximum size in a 300 gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo

14" and still growing in a 180. Had a 16" O that lived for close to 16 years. Died three years ago. Your right about genetics. I've had Os that were no bigger than 10-11" max and some that reach that in 9 to 10 months. Diet and water quality are a must but the genes determine how big to grow. Unless theres HGH for fish.

"Unless theres HGH for fish"

LOL- wouldn't that be FGH? Invent it and you're rich.

i have heard of zoos with like 210's that have 21" oscars but then again its a zoo, it could be 10 years old

Those are some big Os you guys are talking about. Saw on at a zoo recently but forgot to measure it :(

Anyone know the maximum size for an oscar in a 300 gal 8 foot long 2 foot wide and 30 inches high if well fed, regular partial water changes?

Between 12"-14" most likely. But growing him larger is quite possible.
