Saw it on youtube, and I have to say that is the ugliest tank I have ever seen in my life. That's not what fish keeping is about. The amount of money that has gone into that much filthy water, no aquascaping and structurally poor design is insane.

This is truly a sad day for hobbyists. It's no longer about the fish. It's about the ego and who has the biggest tank.

I do not agree with you. I guess you're referring to ArapaimaG 's tank. That tank and the work entailed with building it is impressive, irrespective of the way you look at it.

And, I might add, your criticism is a bit on the strong side. Get to know the person first, his project, before jumping into conclusions about ego and showing of....

This is one of those cases where because you cant have the tank you take a disliking to it. I personaly agre with miguel and think this tank is fantastic and a phenominal amount of work has gone into it.

who are you to say that is not what fish keeping is about.fish keeping is what what ever you want it to be you have no right to say anything like that, his fish are healthy and have 10x the water most of us could ever provide. Have you ever looked at the rivers they come from ? i think you will find they are not the sterile environment that is possible on smaller tanks.

Well this post is as close to forum suicide as possible...

Wait till he finds out ALL the details of the person behind the glass and then we'll see who or what is ugly...

The only one that believes size doesn't matter, is somebody who got a little one...

apparently you have no ambition in the hobby if all you do is resort to jealousy and insults

There is no point in being agressive. Everybody is entitled to an opinion, be it one people agree with, or not.

Please refrain from name calling.

Sad day for Hobbyists? Who is to say what the largest acceptable tank is? With 2 posts here you're already flaming a member? Perhaps that is why you came? If I could provide a 50,000 gallon tank for my animals, I would absolutely do it. Perhaps you should actually read the thread that describes the arduous building of this tank and the thousands of dollars that go into maintaining what is probably the largest home setup in the world. This man did not build the tank for egotistical purposes, he built it for the love of the hobby. He's one of the most humble members we have. Not a sad day for the hobby, it's a remarkable achievement.

If you share our love of Monster fish, I'd encourage you to stay and discuss our hobby. If you came simply to stir up trouble, feel free to use my complaint department.
