180+ big 55-150 average under 55 small

I just find it keeps changing with me.

My 120g now feels like a tiny baby tank, my 14g I don't even count as one.
When I spoke to my bf about maybe setting up another tank he said "you already have two" ... It honestly took me a while to figure out what he meant! LOL.

Suppose depends on who's standards your looking at... I'd say 150-180+ is when it becomes "big"

Anything less (including mine :( ) is "beginner big"

240g/300g+ to me is when a tank becomes big. but that seems to be mostly from working with the pond. before I had the pond my 55g looked decent sized, once the pond was setup, my 55g looks like a critter keeper. lol

so once you hit 8x2x2 (or 8x2x2.5) that starts to seem "big" to me.

Hello !

Any members are welcome to come to my home here in central Florida and see my 15,000 gallon tank that I had ATM in Las Vegas build for me.It's a freshwater tank with some Amazon fish.It still needs a lot of work done on it,but that the fun of it.Some MFK member help me get it started. They are some AWESOME guys !

Per my terms... concerning home aquaria...

10~ 49 gal... Small tanks
50~ 99 gal... Medium tanks
100~ 200 gal... Big tanks...
200~ 399 gal... Huge tanks...
400+ Massive tanks...

Every tanks feels "small" after owning it for a year or more... until it becomes time to move it...

I'm amused when people call their 6' or 8' tank "small"... but if someone came in their home and said "aww, that's a cute little tank you've got" they would most likely be offended to some degree... or at least see it as an ego blow...

PS - per my terms I've owned a huge tank but never a massive tank...

Once upon a time my 75gal seemed big. Now my 220 and 240 seem small. I think it changes with time. So far I have yet to own a tank that I said wow this tank is too big I should go smaller. :)

My 75 seemed big when I got it 4 years ago. I've had it up as my only permanent tank for over a year and now I have a 20 set up to hold my small fish while I get a 29 set up for them. Just looking at the 20 kind of makes me laugh. Now I'm getting a 150, but it will only seem big for like 6 months....

I would say any 6' tank is big......8' and up is huge.....10' and up is monster!
