I will also never buy a hydro again. Had one crack in my sump and it never shut off. Went to feed my fish and felt a little shock. Lucky for me I did not do any gravel clean that day. If I did I would of been dead. I also noticed after that my other Hydro had condensation inside the glass tube. Took them out and bought Stealth heaters.

You mean hydor ? Also what appears to be condensation is actually something else I cant remember what. HarleyK I believe explained it to us. I returned one because I was concerned and the second one came that way. They all seem to and mine doesn't have problems.
I thought Eheim has always run the ebo jager line ?

Although I about spat out my drink when I saw them suggest to use (4) 100W or (3) 150W heaters on a 100 gal tank to raise the temp 11*F...
They also claimed to arm you with everything you need to know to answer all of your heter questions... yet they failed to explain what happens when you use to to many Watts of heater... then they eagerly suggest you use to many watts of heater :S
I guess they don't know everything...
PS - Yes I thought it was flippin hilarious that you included dead fish in the returned heaters... I think it may prevent you from getting a speedy replacement, but flippin hilarious none the less...

Read it and derived a semi identical thought.. Kind of lame IMO .
Ill be using a heater controller so for me it no longer matters. As for others I don't honestly know what to suggest. I got a 25% failure rate for stealths (Only 8 total) And both my Ebo jagers work great (and single 100 watt hydor) . That's all I can really say.

I never looked at those controllers...but can you use one controller on multiple tanks with a heater in each if you want them all the same temp?

I went to the lfs recently to get a stealth heater but they had nothing but those glass tube HOB heaters. I had one of those go nuts last winter and almost cook my catfish. Anyways, i ran to wal-mart and picked this Tetra submersible 200w heater. I have had it for about a week now and no problems so far. I know people will bash me for buying tetra, but its had mixed reviews. I guess ill just have to see how it goes. The oscars love it.

I have been using Ebo Jagers for the last 10 years. before that Hagen Thermal presets which started having problems so I switched them all out for the Ebo's.
never looked back. the ebos are a far superior heater to the hagen ones I was using.
some had issues when ebo jagers were bought out by Eheim and switched from a blue/yellow top to a blue and grey top, but I have had no issues with either. I still have some of the blue/yellow top ones going (on my 20g hospital tank).
the older green Ebo's were even better according to many, but I never got to used them because I was using the crappy hagen ones back then...
