Emperor 400 mod
I modified my AC110 so that the intake reaches to the other side of my tank and I would like to do the same thing to my Emperor 400 but it has square tubing . Does anyone sell extra pieces for it or is there some way to fake it?

with plastic tubing, you can heat it and mold it into the shape you want

I cant show you mine because a) i dont have a camera right now and b) its black on a black background with black sand..... But heres an example.
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...d.php?t=268445
Mine actually bends back up to keep from sucking sand in so it forms a J shape more than an L.
I've considered heating and molding but I only have one so if I screw it up that tank is in for some problems.

If the emp tube is the same as the penguin350, a 1in slip coupling will..well..slip right on..a little bit of a gap would need sealing, or not, if you don`t mind all your suction not coming from the end of your pipe.

I am sure you could buy a few intakes and cut and glue them to do what ever you wanted.
But this sounds like a mod that is more work then it is worth. The design behind a HOB filter is for the outlet water to roll along the top surface and then down the front of the tank. And then to the floor and back up to the inlet. Basically the flow path should be clockwise from the left side of the tank. This is to push the debris to the intake for removal. And as long as you have enough turnover then the debris will stay suspended long enough to be removed.

You are modifying the wrong end of the emperor 400.
Use the ROUND out put spray bars as the end to modify.... plumb the return of the water to the other side of your tank.

why not just cut a peice of tubeing like we use for syphons... slip one end over square side.. one around a circular tube. silicone it if you feel sassy 'n think it'de slide off. You can get tubeing in many different widths and since it's fairly stretchy yet holds firmly. Should work just fine if you allow a few inches around each tubeing part. could prolly make it w/ the tubeing 'n pvc or similar type material. snoop around the plumbing department.

Ahh.. i get it.. your extending the Ac110 to the bottom of the tank.. Got ya..
I actually have something similar.. I have a total of 4 extendor of intake on my ac110.. it reaches to the bottom of my tank.. 24" tall total.. But i like how u made a spray bar on the bottom to sypon the gravel..
As for an Emperor 400.. I would imagine making an extender to reach the bottom.. but are emperor's that strong? How tall is your tank?
