Dang, there are a lot of things I love about S. Ca but earthquakes is definitely not one of them.

that the hidden danger living in So-cal.. its nice and all with the warm winters and super super hot summers... but you'll never know when next quake will come.. weather is a small 2.0 or 9.0 magnitude.. (a 9.0 can happen... its not something anyone wants happen.. since its considered God's finger size of magnitude.. )

That sump ran the whole tank.

I had an extra xp4 though, so that now runs the tank and i moved the sump to another tank. It is in an office so i figured that would be the better place for my super silent canister. But it soley ran the 180 with only 340gph for 2 months, heavy heavy feeding and breeding.

Finally the canopy...

I decided against making a wooden canopy because of water damages caused by my previous other canopies.....

Usually they were caused by molds caused by the water evoperation and into the wood.. it would always make me sneeze because of the molds.. and mold isnt something you want when your living with a fish tank around your house..

So I decided to use PVC pipes instead...

This was the beginning phase of the PVC structure..

Next step was to make covers for the canopy...

Since i keep arowana's... i wanted to make a super secure seal on the top vs just using weights on top to hold down the canopy..

This is where the PVC pipes and acrylic glass came in hand.. follow by thick metal wires..

I drilled the Acrylic glass according to the 1/2 inch pvc pipes i was using and drilled a hole through the pvc like so..

I got this idea from the carbon fiber hoods you would see in race cars...
It took a while to drill each of the 1/2" holes.. but the result was extremely satisfying.... There was no way any fish would be strong enough to break anything like this..

Finally the end result...

Hope you enjoy it.. I'll add better quality pictures as i took these in a rush and was getting read for bed.. but figured i'll post pics of it since someone wanted an idea of a secure acrylic glass hood..
