I was just wondering if I can add another type of knife to my tank (preferably an ossa) to my 75g tank. Right now I have 1 blue/2gold/2moonlight gouramis (all about 4") 7" needle nose gar 5" pleco and my new and fave fish, my 4" BGK. Would it be ok to add an ossa knife in the mix?
Thanks

There are two fish that would concern me. The BGK, seems how it has already established its territory in the tank, and may show some aggression. Also, the Pleco. Ossa Knife fish will lay on their side during the day, and would give the Pleco a chance to "suck" on the Ossa's slime coat.
You could try, but there are risks. ;)

well hopefully i can get a 130+ gallons from an aunt who uses it for storage hehe
that tank's side are all the same lenght but the height is quite high. Can i still get more than 1 kind of knife fish in that tank (more real estate on top of tank than bottom). The more I look at those ossa knifes, the more I liking it

think it will work out with that tank?

Pleco would still be an issue, IMO, but the BGK might do better, as long as both Knives are added at the same time. Increases your chances of then getting along. ;)

ok thanks for the help guys. I have been thinking about it and I think ill wait to get the ossa. Hope I can build a BIG tank when we finish the basement hehe

I believe the ossa will reach about 20 inches so quite a big tank is in order. Knife fish constantly produce electrical currents and they will interfere with each other and cause stress. ossa's I've heard are quite sensitive to stress. I think there are plenty of other great fish out there so I would just keep one knife.

Myth. ;)
Multiple Knives can be kept together without any stress at all. Just depends of the aggression of the species. They use the electrical current to help them around. (Looking for food, identifying fish, etc.)
Just an example,
Glass Knives prefer to be kept in groups of at least three or more. If what was stated above was true, this wouldn't move likely not happen. ;)

i guess you need to be lucky and get a fish with a good temperment hehe
my fave fish is my bgk and would love to get an ossa or a blusing/marbled bgk but where i live no lfs would even have those. i dont wanna risk/stress my bgk by getting another knife

thanks guys
