For anybody who followed my other post, a 4.5"-5" approx female red zebra came in with a shipment of koi at petsmart last week. I got her for 8 bucks (gorgeous fish) and temporarly put her in the 10 gallon with some crushed coral to try and keep her healthy. I was originally gonna trade her to the LFS for credit to make a profit but got attached, although i never really thought i'd like africans before. Well, I bought a small acei and yellow lab last night along with some reef rocks and got my tanks switched over (took about 2.5 hours to transfer all the old water out clean filters etc, but it looks flawlessly clean now in person) so, i'll stop wasting your time with this massive paragraph and put up some pictures :P

Here was the blueprint I made in class, I think i came pretty close except I don't have the slate yet and I haven't hooked up the canister

about an hour after the change last night, should have taken a pic when the water looked like milk from the coral haha

Adjusting to the new space

Acei has already claimed the rock pile haha

Little yellow lab that I'm genuinely happy hasn't been eaten

Now some clearer pictures from today, the finished (kinda) product

The trio, so far little to no aggression, zebra is female acei is female lab is male i think, kinda hard to tell on the lab cuz so small

Rock Cave for the little guys

Should've known this good deal would have turned out costing me about a hundred bucks, haha. Good lookin fish though (her fin got messed up dashing in to a rock at petsmart, but should heal fine)

Thanks for looking :P

- Any ideas on further stocking? I'm thinking a Cobalt Blue Zebra an OB Peacock, any other relatively common options with a different coloration than blue or yellow that could be compatibile? My Gf like's jewel cichlids but im not a fan. Thanks again

when i had malawis i had one absolute favorite.....

demasoni!!!! tank isnt complete without one

honestly from perspective of looks, those are my favorites too, may have to have the LFS order me in some

nice looking setup, and my yellow lab doesn't take crap from anything lol and it should be fine even tho the red zebra is bigger because atleast mine is like a lighting bolt :S

yeah haha, actually the zebra hasn't shown aggression towards anybody yet, just digging holes under the big fake driftwood piece to be able to get through :P

probably gonna order some fish from bluegrassaquatics, that have some good prices on some fish i'd like just gotta ask around about aggression

Tank is lookin' great.

For mbuna to avoid, I always tell folks to stay away from Bumblebee (Ps. crabro), M. auratus, M. chipokae, Kenyi (Ps. lombardoi).

sweet, i may order some fish from bluegrass aquatics, i'm gonna make a post later to make sure all are at least moderately calm

where did you end up getting your red zebra, and yellow lab from ? if nothing else get em from where you got them before and maybe pick up a cobalt zebra as well all in all its up to you tho lol.

the red zebra came in with the koi shipment at petsmart weirdly enough, only paid 8 bucks for her. other 2 are from petsmart as well, was picking up some rock and they both looked surprisingly healthy - considering the cobalt blue from my LFS
