can you keep them in freshwater because arent they brackish.how big do they get.i wanna know cuz i wanna start a small 20 long brackish

no they wont live in freshwater for long, they need saltwater as adults, and a 20 gallon is a little small for one.

You can keep them in freshwater.. Most LFS not speeking for all.. But most that i have come across throw them in one of there regular tanks...

So better to aclimate to what ever tank if you haven't asked the weight of the water they are holding the fish in:).. MIne were in fresh at the lfs and so i didn't change anything..

They are said to reach 6".. Mine just cleared 2"... Had em for a few months got them at 1.5...

They require excellent water qulaity and are best suited in single specie tanks...

In some hobbiest cases they can be as hard to keep alive a small arrow.... But that is just my 2 cents..

It also depenmds if you canb identify the spotted you have... One is Brackish and one is not .... ALlot of people think they have one go brackish and guess what :) I believe the actual brackish spotted has more aof a club shape with an actual club handle kind of shape toward the tail... Could be wrong so don't quote me on anything :)

Most LFSs keep them in freshwater because GSPs are born in freshwater and they probably make more money by selling them as freshwater fish to hobbyists who know nothing about them. GSPs are born in freshwater and slowly move out to the ocean. I also tried to keep 2 in freshwater a few years ago before i researched and then bought my fish. My lfs said that you can keep them in freshwater, so i did. Both of them lasted around a month.

well i want like 5 so would a 55 be good for 5.and it will be brackish

5 GSPs are too much for a 55, i think you are supposed to keep one for every 30 gallons of tank space because they are kinda aggressive. So you could probably keep 2 in a 55 gallon.
