I bought this texas and within 3 days of having this fish it went into breeding colours and hangs about with my two female parrots.

What sex is this fish as I find it hard to sex texas.

Thanks in advance

That has to be a hybrid. Tx's don't have a head profile like that. That looks to be a male tho.

Really a hybrid? I thought this fish was a carpintis texas not the cyan type.

If yous think this is a hybrid what do you think it is a mix of

Thanks for your input guys

Its probably someones failed attempt to make RT. Its face resembles that of many RT. Probably Carpintis X Blood parrot, but you can never really know for sure unless you find out who bred it.

It's deformed.

Haha deformed :)

I like this fish, when I have looked at videos of texas on youtube they look almost identical, I know what you mean about the beak like a parrot.

When the parrot fish and texas mate and you get RT do sometimes they stay looking like the normal colour of a texas with none of the red?

Can anyone give anymore input on the sex as its 2male 2female at the minute.

Thanks

This seems a very accurate response.

The fish in the OP aint a pure Carpintis.
