What do you think of adding natural plants in cichlid tanks? I want to try them in my large tank. I am thinking for an alternative to pothos since it will be blocking my arowanas path and it will need to be disturbed every time I maintain my trickle filter. I tie-wrapped 2 Java ferns (each 2"x4" width root base) to a clay brick. The clay brick will be placed in the substrate but the roots will be left exposed? I did this to avert diggers from displacing the plant. I am aiming for 8 of these or 4 Java ferns and 4 anubias. How about anubias which I hear is a low light plant also? Lighting currently is very low at only 0.8W/gallon. Do I need to upgrade? I am open to suggestions. I want a natural looking tank and the benefits that come with them. I have a few diggers in my 250 gallon tank, even a giant gourami who is a super picky eater but I heard Java ferns are bitter. Water depth is 24".

Thanks in advance for your help!
