Got this bloke a week ago and he's colored up a bit. I suspect his colors will only get darker and redder with age *crosses fingers, he's only 5-6". Btw his literal line has to seemed to disappear after a week of being in the tank. Pretty sure he's not stressed since he is the biggest fish in the tank and no one bothers him, water params are good too. Been feeding on Hikari gold, cichlid staple, Hikari algae wafers, and spinach and other greens. Anything else I should feed this guy?:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

* first pic was about a few hrs after being introduced to his new tank.

Cool I jus got rid of one that was 10 inches that's a nice fish u got. U r feeding great I would feed mine beefheart as treat along with hikari staple and gold

I want one of these pretty bad and I have wanted one for a while now. You have an excellent example of one too! Good thing you're not local cause he might come up missing!LOL:D

Foods you're feeding are great! Maybe shrimp but keep up with what you've been doing.

Lol thanks. I was thinking of switching out the greens for Hikari Cichlid Excel, suppose to be good for herbivorous cichlids and other large fish.

Anyone have any idea why his lateral line disappeared?

Probably because hes getting bigger and more comfortable with his surroundings! Very common with a lot of cichlids.

At least until hes stressed or pissed! LOL
