I have 5 in my group. They are between 7-12 inches. They have spawned once but the male is clumsy and knocked all the eggs out:irked:.They are about to breed again, this time with a sexy all black female. Here is a prickly male.

I feed my plecos better then i eat.Zucchini, carrots, cherry tomatoes, algae wafers, massavoire pellets, silver sides, peas, broccoli, three kinds of flakes,etc...Every day they get a different food skipping a day here and there.

If I remember, you have a dragon or tiger fin variety L91 (I should post a pic of mine, I'll try to remember tonight when I'm at home). Can you post a pic of that one too?

Has anyone tried to breed the dragon/tiger fins to try to "fix" the trait, or to see if the orange patterning extends elsewhere?

This is not being done at a commercial level to my knowledge.

L91 is one of the first Leporanthicus I owned, and one of the plecos that got me into the hobby. When they're settled, they're beautiful plecos. Do keep us updated on your breeding progress!

There are a few natural colour varieties of these fish out there. I have only seen one in person and the rest are on east asian sites. They are highly sought after plecs in east Asia. Plus they are not cheap.

When I had my group I had my group they attempted to spawn many times. Three times my male killed the female in the cave. I gave up and sold that male. Tried with a different male. The female was gravid they went in the cave and the next day she was skinny and there was not even a single egg left.

Very aggressive plecs when they are in breeding mode.

Good luck and keep an eye on your male.
