Hi all just noticed on my silver that his gills have curled inwards and he is breathing heavy..any ideas?..have heard this can happen when in a tank too small but he has plenty of space..water is well filtered and up until today has been feeding fine. He did jump out the tank the other week but seemed to be fine after a day or two with no visible damage..any ideas or suggestions please

Gill Curl happen in Arows, the gill cover of the arowana curl outward normaly though, initially involving only the solf part of the cover and later the hard gill cover. If the cause is not removed, condition will get worst, gill will get exposed, causing breathing difficulty and making the gill prone to infection. The end result could be fetal.
Causes Small swimming space Tankof size with length and width shorter then 2.5x and 1x the length of the fish. Fish has to "reverse" on turning but the most common one Poor water condition Check ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate water change also might help to Increase dissolved O2(add airstone) / Increase water current

Ok inward gill curl can be down a gill bacterial infection I have also been told it can happen if you have to much current and fine air bubbles but i have that in my tank and my one is fine. But a lot of gill problems with Arrows comes down to tank size and water conditions.
