i google that and get alot of **** on dna sexing on birds

i google in fish ( as a more genral topic and go from there) and get nothing

it doesnt seem that easy or common if im finding nothing, I havnt even found anything in my aro info collection.

:( :irked:

anyone have anything?

It would be possible, I'll get a mate to ask at the University for me, see if they would do it and approx. costs if they will. I would assume that it would be more expensive then a bird, more like Dna for a human.

i just heard and read somewhere in the "awakening of the dragon book" that theyre still mapping the genes out to be used for breeding purposes

thank you guys

nova- excellent

kritzu- can you double check man?

It is very costly to set up DNA labs in fish farms for testing purpose. As such, Xian Leng is currently having a joint venture with Osaka University to conduct these testings. Lots of the smaller farms do not conduct these testing as such. QianHu is also conducting DNA testing. For most fish species, these kinds of testing are not needed simply because there are physical traits to distinguish sexes & also the cost involved unless the fish can be sold for mucho pesos. :D

I'm guessing that it would be quite pricey for a hobbyist. The expense, as previously mentioned, is in setting up the test equipment. We're in the technology dark ages,I forsee a time where it will be common practice.
It seems that we humans are going to loose many species of animals by not acting sooner.

How do we bring this stuff to the world's attention b4 it's too late.

Duke University has a fantastic evolutionary biology program and focuses on extinction.

The main reason those guys are conducting DNA testing is merely to determine sexing not so much for protection of the species unfortunately.
