i have a thread in the breeding section as well but would like to have the cichlid folks to discuss with as well.

My cubans have wigglers now, a couple hundred at least. I am going to leave the fry in there until they are free swimming. although im not sure how long that will be. this is my first experience with these cichlids as well as the first time ive ever bred anything. ill post some pics up sooner or later but they dont do pictures well. the male is a real glass banger already at 3.5" the female is about 3". the male doesnt seem to involved and the female is often mad when he comes near. What should i feed the fry. sometime i see fry food reccomended and others they say just crush flakes.

Hikari First bite's as soon as possiable. And just feed the parent's. If there anything like my pair then all should be good. I too have about 100 fry from my pair. This was my last pair to breed. This is there first brood as well. Good luck with the fry.

ill get some pics up here in a bit. there were some tankmates but i took them out today permanantly and am dedicating this tank to my pair.

when did you take the little ones out? I have a fully cycled 10 gallon dedicated to the tiny tots when the time comes.

I don't seperate any of my fry from the parent's right now. You usually won't have to if there good parent's for at least a month. The only reason I do seperate the parent's at that point is because the baby's will pick and peck at the mother. Possiablly killing her from stress. I have had Con fry that were aggressive to the mother. I had 6 of these Cuban's along with other fry when I got them these two were the last and turned out to be a pair finally! They were very aggressive at 1'' as well but most MF are. Good luck and I can't wait to see pic's.
