Not sure what to do about this little fella!
His body is kind of S shaped!
Not sure if it is broken spine or a deformtiy.

about 10cm long, been kept alone in a 90cm x 45cm x 45cm grow out tank (now moved into my hospital tank)

Been kept at optimal water params.

Seems to be swimming totaly fine. Eating well and very active.

Seems totally normal other than the bends!

What do you rekon?

The thing is, the Micro is going to be in it's own tank as a display fish.
And I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this with juvi Micros before, and if it got better with age or worse.

If it gets worse, I will pass on this guy.

i've haven't seen deformities get better; usually it either doesn't improve or it gets worse. I've heard it gets worse because the muscles develop differently but who knows, i'd give him/her a chance

agreed,i dont think it will get any better, but is it china or japan when deformed fish sell for a small fortune?

Poor little fella, he has great color but I do think its a deformity and it will not get better, If they was legal in the states I would snag the poor guy up and give him the best possible care, but that is just the way I am.

i think it's the super crazy deformities that fetch some nice $$$ (like a 2 headed snakehead or something nutty like that)

I am the same. I have many rescued fish and oddballs, but the problem is that this fish is going to get incredibly large, and will eventually be housed in a 8' x 3' x 3' alone as a "Display" fish.

The responsibility needed for Micros IMO is a lot of work, and would obviously be more rewarding if the fish is in "Show" condition. (LOL as opposed to "freakshow" condition)

It's a tough call!

And H]-[H, I didn't notice it when I first got it, but up till now it has been VERY shy and I haven't managed to get a good look at it.

I'm pretty sure it is a defect rather than a broken spine. He swims as normal, and is in a pretty large grow out tank for a 8-10cm fish.
