Anyone else finding less is more in stocking?

I recently swapped out my main tank due to fear of it leaking and sold off a bunch of stock to help fund the new tank. I have to say I am enjoying my tank much much more. I have a 75 gallon with Marine land C-360 Filter. My stock list is as follows and for the first time in my life I am not looking for whats next.

4 x HRP 3" 2m & 2f
1 x female convict 1"
2 x Firemouth 3.5"
1 x Rubber lipped pleco 2"
1 x Veija Syn female 3.5" (I will move her when she grows out but I believe I have time)

My tank looks allot less busy and I like it allot the fish seem to also. When they are full grown my plan is to move up in tank size and not add more fish I like letting them have more room to swim it seems more natural.

my stock used to be

11 x lemon tetra (dithers)
6 x HRP 3"
1 x female convict 1"
3 x Firemouth 3.5"
1 x Rubber lipped pleco 2"
1 x common pleco
1 x Bumble bee cat
1 x Veija Syn 3.5" (I will move her when she grows out)

Well considering you're on a site that is all about over stocking and over filtering, you're going to be in the minority :)

I have not decreased the number of tanks but I have gotten rid of 'filler' fish and have kept only the best looking and most interactive. So a bit understocked looking but overall a better fishkeeping experience.

I agree with you :) in my 57g it used to have loads of community fish, but their numbers have fallen over the years and the tank looks better for it. I'd say I appreciate aquascaping now almost as much as the fish in the tank, whereas before it was purely based on fish.

I feel the same way. I've recently downsized from 3 tanks to two, and from 12 fish to 5. Much more enjoyable, now. I can really spoil the ones I have and the maintenance is a lot less.

I agree with you. All my tanks are pretty "under stocked" haha. I like it a lot more. I think it's better for the fish too.
