Love the pearls. Been trying to find some light phase here in the states for awhile. Willing to import also but can't seem to get it done. Following this thread.

Interesting...anyone have adult pics of light base?

I realize 5 stars are quite unique as adults, but would you think light and dark base are different variants/types or simply a color variation of the same type?
You can get light and dark base out of one litter

So if this is the case, there are basically 2 types to Pearl at this time. Regular type (light or dark base) and 5 star.

Would everyone agree that the type referred to as "crocodile" is also just a color varient?

I can't confirm this as I don't know to much about pearls

That is one very nice looking male. Is that the same one Jojo brought in?
I imagine this one would be considered a light base type?

Thank you for all of your thoughts so far T1.

Does anyone else have information or knowledge on Pearls that they would like to share?
More pictures of the different variant of Pearl would be very interesting.

Thanks scott! Id imagine hes a light based...He flashes an even lighter pearly base during feeding. And yes he was brought in by jojo. Im curious about any more info of the crocodile variant/color also. I know this may be unrelated but there is a "crocodile" variant in alligator gar that exibits a similiar color pattern. Wonder who came up with the term for pearls? In gator gar...its a certain hybrid that makes it, same could b for rays. They may not actually be 100% pearl.

This isnt a dereail i promise lol...not positive what 2 species make it but i know its not just a color morph or variant of full gator genes. The same could be the case with pearls. Id say my male comes close and also looks a bit odd to most other pearls i see. It being captive bred or a hybrid could explain that. Just a guess lol...
