How bad are heater burns on 4inch bass?

My guy has a heater burns on his eye and down 50% of his body. I'm thinking the worst here , scarring? How bad is it on the eye? Heater is hidden now, wasn't a.problem before, someone tell me something good here.

He was in the tank for a month, never did he do that before, what was he just that stupid or do they not feel the burn? Maybe I pressed it against him while I was algae scrubbing, or He was just that stressed while I was doing it. He was so promising too, definitely a low in my fish keeping career... very hard way to learn this lesson, never had this happen.
