What species of cichla are more prone to HLLE? Is HLLE the same as HITH.. Been googling however information seems contradictory .

Wanted to hear opinions from the cichla keepers On this forum . Or MFK links ? Hard to search forum from cell .

Thank you

Same thing. HLLE/HITH is a result of high nitrates, which is commonly a result of inadequate water changes. I don't think anyone type of pbass are more prone, but perhaps whether they are wild caught or farm bred may make a difference.

Ocell, intermedia, and tem are prone to HITH. I'm wondering about pinama. I could be wrong. Just my observation.

Besides the nitrates mentioned . Any correlation of HLLE occurrence in
cichla to PH or TDS ?

Back to nitrates , zero is ideal however in a closed loop system any incidents of HLLE at < 80 ppm nitrates ?

Thank you for your previous response
