I was thinking of adding an AC110 to my 90 gallon aquarium that is already filtered by a FX5, to increase the mechanical filtration. Will purigen or Chemi-pure elite work better in the AC110 as a final chemical filter?
I like purigen strictly because it's rechargeable if you want to go through that and you don't have to really rinse it. Anyone who has used chemi pure none elite will tell you it needs a lot of rinsing and you end up with black hands from it.
Personally I don't think either work very well in a HOB as water is not forced through it a lot can bypass. Chemical media's work 10x better when used in a media reactor and at the least I'd say they are more effective in canister as there is some pressure present.
