Most likely. If they were being captive bred then babies would be showing up year round like silver aros. Not only in the spring.

My money is on the bet that most are still wild caught in S.A.. Not bred commercially. That's why they show up in the U.S. in spring every year just like they have since I can remember in the mid 1980's. Just a larger demand for them now . More demand= higher prices until the demand lower.
