I agree I created the imbalance, but in retrospect because I made the mistake of overloading the tank to quickly I think this jump start to recycle the tank again was the best I could do besides stuffing the catfish in my QT tank for weeks on end while the tank did its thing naturally...I'll take moderately high nitrites and getting a good nitrate reading over 5.0 ppm ammonia for 4 days straight any day...I learned a lesson on this one lol...thankfully bullheads are tough little guys.
