How do you get your Cobra to go from this color (see attach 1&2) to ape **** hunter mode (see attach 3,4, & 5). Cannot believe it happened, but should be my own ability to underestimate this fish. Forgive me if it should go under lessons learned, pike threads, or general moron items.
I did take some precautions, but oh well here goes. Went to local LFS at daughters request and got killer deal on group of 3 clown loaches. While at the store they looked good and thick, hmmm... 4+ inches maybe five? All for $30. Got home started drip, dropped in large divider. All was well, well 30min laters drop clowns into small divided side....well that is when my daughter got first hand knowledge of Dad's 5 magic words... you can guess the rest.
Lets just say I can't believe one actaully survived!!! The cobra smashed through, around, over, and through again everything in the tank!!! The damn fish actually hit the pack of three so hard I thought it ripped the tail clean off that last one ----NO it freaking buried the clown up to its tail in the sand!!! When I got my long arm claw to pull out the tail THE FISH WAS STILL ALIVE!!! APE **** round 2 started AGAIN!!!. I was practically swimming in the damn 210gal tank trying not to get electrocuted saving the clowns!!!
And yes I realize "anything that can fit into its mouth is dead meat". Well the pike is at the 8" mark pretty much topping out. And I have only had it on feeders maybe 1-2x when tank was cycled with feeders. Pikes and feeders = bad HITH.
Live and learn. Might be time for me to Put up Ole' bessy for sale here. God I love the fish, but man they can piss you off.
Enjoy the pics, was an expensive show - damn that was a lot of beer tickets!!!
Sorry for crappy pics, had to grab old cam that was close....should see thick black stripes in last three pics and fishes whole body just starts heaving like on a rampage!!!
