figured while i was doing it,and people ask about it,i would take pics on how i clean sand.

get some pool filter sand.
i paid 8 bucks per 50lb bag,so about 16 bucks for 100lbs to do my 240g.
"they raised the price"

next get at least 2 buckets,i used 3,and a garden hose.
one bucket,or 2 in my case,is to hold the clean sand.
other bucket is for cleaning the sand.

fill the cleaning bucket about 1/4 or 1/3 of the way up with sand.
turn on the hose and stick it in the sand and stir it up really good.
then dump the dirty water out.
i did this about 10 times each bucket full.
sounds like alot but i like it clean.

heres the clean sand.

then you need a cup,bucket, or tupperware,to pour the sand in the tank.
scoop the sand out of the bucket and pour it out at the bottom of the tank.

smooth out the sand and your done.

and finally,heres a pic right after i put the 100lbs of sand in.
do it this way and there should be no cloudy water.

also,when you add sand your water level will rise so keep an eye on it.

I was lucky when I bought my PFS. I washed mine like you did with the first bag. Put the hose in and completely clear!!!!! So I didn't bother with my other bag, just poured it right in!

just to say,
i would always rinse.
cant hurt.
my sand also had a smell until i rinsed it.
