Arrived at the spot around 8:30 am. and deployed squid all around. Dad picked up a skate right away then a 53" SNGF around 9:45. The Mackerel finally thawed so i threw it out on a Breakaway -form rig (far out rig mono) with a new 8/0 marlin circle hook i wanted to try. Nothing was happening and the tide was going out slowly but surly. started throwin for perch while waiting for a Leo. was using a sandcrab and my line went taunt and put steady presure on my rod (10ft, with 6lb mono) , rod doubled over and lined just started to peel off... not very fast, about 2 feet every 5 second...nice and steady. After it took about 40yrds it came un buttoned. Im sure it was a SNGF, but ill never really know. meanwhile my dad is catching perch and stocking them up for bait to use later, so i go to look for another SC...with none to be found ... at around 11:30 while im using a rock to dig a huge crater in the sand chasing little tiny SC's in hope ill run into Momma i hear a "ZZZZ"....ZZZ...ZZZZZZZZZ...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.... run ove to the rod with mackerel on it and hook into a nice fish! 10 mins later ive got a 5 ft Leo beached, Hooked right in the corner of the mouth!. We agreed we'd take one for the table if it was big enough and this one def. was! i put him in the wade gut that was fully exposed and full of water, but it was now about 10yrds from the ocean...perfect saltwater pond to keep him alive in

well, we ended up with a few more skate and perch (which didnt work btw) and a nice crab to go into the pond with the leo

we got out of there at dusk due to winds, we still had plenty of bait and had planned to stay till 10pm to fish the hightide...but i was happy with my one Leo. well worth the $3 parking fee

i took pics but they're on a disposable camera which ill get developed today or tomorrow and post them up.

i was using mackerel in 2"x5" chunks with 3oz pyramids, had to lob my casts for no distance at all... so looks like ill be building my 6-8&bait sooner than i thought.

your in Maryland, the beach isnt that far from you no matter where you live. theres even bigger fish your side of the country.

sorry what fish were they?

is a leo a leopard shark?

How hard do those leopards fight?

I catch alot of black tips and spinner sharks that size from the beach but loose many many more then I land! The spinners are more difficult cause they spend more time in the air then they do in the water!

Those leos sure are pretty fish though!
