Hi all.
I have recently gotten into Dwarf cichlids and they are the coolest fish I have cared for so far and have had the apistos now for about 3 months and they are doing great... Check out the pics I think the peat in the filter is doing them wonders.

But I really want to breed my Vijeta's as i got a little 5Gal and a bubble filter for christmas. Does any one know anything about them, and anything about breeding them like water param's temperature etc?

low to mid 6's on the ph and around 84 degrees. make sure they are well fed (live or frozen). also make sure they have a clay pot in the breeding tank, i would say that a 5 gallon is way to small, but stranger things have happened and i wont claim to know everything about dwarf cichlids by a long shot. i hope this helps.

low to mid 6 as a pH...wow thats pretty acidic. I have them at a low 7 at the mo. and my glass cats wiskers are getting a little singed by the acidity. But i suppose that is the pro of having a seporate breeder tank.
So you think that a 5gal would be too small? well i will have go at it just for the sake of tryings and let you know how i make out.
Do you have any tips on softening the water?
