My snapping turtle may have swallowed a piece of 3/8" x 4" acrylic tubing (I am still searching the tank, but I'm afraid he did)

Could a vet fish it out of him? Opinions?

I'm sure anything is possible if you have the right amount of CA$H. Sounds like something expensive. I'm also not sure how a snapper would take to being sedated. Best of luck with what ever you decide. I really hope you find the piece of tubing in the tank somewhere.

Thanks, I hope so, Too!
Will respond right away if I do.

Where would the vet to open the Turtle to remove the piece? Pulling objects out the mouth of any animal can cause serious issues. Good luck finding the piece in your tank. I have lost things in substrate before.

they would probably give him an x-ray first just to see the location and size of the object within the turtle and then go from there.

Searched the tank. No tubing. :(

Any bets on what the vet bill will be?

Hope it's caught in the upper digestive tract, maybe it can be removed with an endoscope.

I have no idea what it would cost. Best bet is to call a vet and tell them the problem and see what they say. Definitely start with x-rays first and then go from there.

The tubing is 1/2" O.D. x 4"-5", stuck sideways in his stomach. Not gonna pass... :(

Office call & X-Rays were $149, estimate for removal is $550-$800.

Don't know if I can afford it, that's a big chunk of change. This sucks!
