I just picked up one of these a couple of days ago, and while I know that they like cool, clean water, and will eat almost anything that fits in their mouth, with brine shrimp, black/blood/earth worms, fish, & shrimp pellets being good for them. That they enjoy company, and with company will requie a 20L, with a tightly fitting lid to prevent escapes. and that the water level needs to be lower than with a fish for easy access to the surface.

I also know that they live up to 15 years, with some of the oldest living as long as 30 yrs.

My questions:
How fast do they grow?
What size can you tell gender?

my albino is about the size of a quarter now, and it almost looks like it has a little bitty tail on it's backside, but when I look closer, it just looks like the skin on the back of their legs. I'm not sure what to name him. :nilly:

He's currently in a half-full 1 gallon with an undergravel filter, A) so he can reach the surface easier (he had a 10 gal) and B) because I need that filter running.

Well it sounds like you have a female frog. They have a small extension of skin hanging where a tail would be. Also when compared in size to males, the females are the bigger of the two sexes. Males also develop a black pad on there front hands for gripping the female when they bred.

She's not very big at the moment, and she's an only frog (until my fiance finds a wild-colored one) so size comparison isn't much of a help right now.

I made sure that even though her 1 gallon AQ (very temporary) is only half full, I put a large silk plant, and a smaller silk plant in there for her to rest on and be close to the surface.

How quickly will she grow? I need to know how soon my fiance has to buy one, or tey to find a bigger one later on.
 
All the ones I bred grew pretty quickly on a high protein diet. Mine enjoyed eathworms and bits of lean, raw beef. Keep the water clean and in the high 70's which will speed up your frogs metabolism and growth.

Can you teach them to be hand fed (using a toothpick or similar object of course)? I have various lean range-fed organic raised cowparts in my freezer (it doesn't hurt when your uncle raises steer) do I just chop that up fine enough for her to eat, and strategically place it in front of her nose?

Right now she's munching on baby brine shrimp, shrimp pellets, F/D bloodworms and betta pellets. (mixed with the F/D bloodworms for my bettas)
 
Yes, I suppose you could teach your frog to eat bits of meat from a toothpick. I never tried it! I just dropped everything in and let them go to town. They have a pretty good nose on them so they should smell the food. Your varied diet sounds good but you might want to add some Reptamin sticks as well.
 
Is there a specific kind for ambhibians, or are they "one size fits all"?

One size fits all. They have one made for baby turtles. You can also just snap the sticks in half to make them smaller.
 
we adopted one that was like 15 yrs old. had it for another couple yrs before it died. it ate reptomin, freeze dried shrimp, and cut up pieces of earthworms.
