very cool love the dark sand makes the planst stand out more

small gravel or sand will make the plants make roots easier. make sue do not to use a too powerfull air pump. too much oxygen will make your plants grow slower. with time, plants should provide way enough oxygen for your tank and bubbles will only by for look. good luck with your tank! thats a nice big fat red by the way!

thanks everyone, the bubles where taken out and the plants where spread out more and I have some java moss on the way. It is black sand. Also I went with the solo red because of his age and tremendous size and just deserves a tank to himself.

thanks everyone for the nice comments. Like I said the crypt or whatever type plant that is that was bunched is spread out now on the tank and the java moss is now in covering most of the wood. He just ate two hours ago 5 large shrimp packed with pellets LMAO, he likes to eat a lot, new pics this week!
