One of my green scats has some white growth on tail and anal fin. It started out as small white spots and has evolved to larger growths, almost resembling a biuld up of salt or calcium appearance. ( just what it resembles) They are solid/firm feeling. I have raised the temp and it already has salt.
Any ideas?

Might be a fungus, have you added aquarium salt? (Different from Marine salt).

I would add go out and get a anti-fungal aquarium medication and use the recommended dosage.

Also, if you could please include your water parameters as well as a photo (if possible) of the infected area - that would help.

Sounds like Columnarus. What SG is the tank? Wate parameters? Tank & fish size? Water change schedule?

Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 5. SG is not heavy, at about 1.004 Currently converting a freshwate setup over to full brackish. ( Slowly )
I do appx 40% water change weekly.
5-1.5" Green and Ruby Scats. They are currently housed in 29 long for growout and quarantine.

I treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic with no results, the growths continued to increase. So I am leaning towards a fungus and am doing a water change and going to start treatment as such. I am actually changing to a medication that covers Fungus and Bacterial infections. Hopefully that will cover both ends.
By the way if someone knows where I can obtain a few Scatophagus Tetracanthus I would really be grateful.:)

It would be much easier to diagnose with a pic. Columnarus is common in BW fish in FW/low-end SG, that need higher. I'd increase the SG & treat for that disease (sorry, I'm not good w/meds).

Check out my sig and see my pics. The movie in the first post is pretty good too.

I am considering going a different way, and I've considred selling my scats.

I got them from Fugupuff in the vendors forums here several years ago. about 5-7" now.

If you are interested and are prepared to prove you can/do practice good (large brackish) husbandry, I may part with my three babies for a remarkably reasonable fee. You gotta take the green spotted guy too, though.

Here is a pic, not very good. Talk about not holding still, I think these are harder to take pics of than my Tropheus were.
To me the appear round and biulding upon itself.

Yup, definately columnarus. Seen this many times on BW fish in too low SG. Weakened immune syystem.

OK, thanks pufferpunk. Ive kept scats about 20 years ago in totally fresh for 2 years but never had an issue with this. I have been treating with a anti bacterial med and progression appears to have stopped or at least slowed way down. The one good thing is that it has never stopped feeding.
These are all new (2 weeks), so I figured they came in with it or got it from the lfs, cause when I went to the same lfs at the beginning of this week the ones they had left were showing signs of it also.

Keeping a BW fish in FW will lower it's immune system, not necessarily getting it sick right away or even within 2 years but it will happen. I kept my 1st dragon goby in FW for 8 years. Throughout those years, it would develop little tumors on it's body. Eventually, the one in it's mouth got so big, it couldn't eat anymore & died.
