Very much south..
I enclose several pix of the "things" which I still am unable to identify.

It started as the white pimples I described several days ago.

Now I see some sort of "threadlike stuff" as well as numerous cysts on the tail fin..

It does not look like anchorworm, BUT I am at a loss at what it might be...

Some additional facts:

. The fish swims normally, eats, and does not scratch;

- The only "new introduction " were a couple of floating plants, 3 weeks ago, from a friend's pond, which I, stupidly, did not desinfect prior to puting them in the sump.

Any opinions?

No Flagtail, I do not ignore advice when I ask for it.

I am still, however, trying to identify the critter.

I full well remember your experience and the way you handled it with Maroxy.

What I really do not want to do is take the aro out of the tank:(

You don't have to take aro out of tank....I treated my 180 with 4 bottles of the stuff....
1/2 bottle a day over a 8 day period.....the bumps on the tail where hard to get rid of, by day 3 the cottom balls on the body seem to fall apart.....the bumps on the tail took almost 3 weeks to disappear.

2 bottles for sure was enought for the body cotton, can't say if the 3 or 4th was needed for the tail.....but I did not see any difference in the bumps.....all I could say is that all gone, 3 weeks and 4 bottles later....

I did try clout threatment prior to this, and it didn't work.

Well tonight I have started the treatment that was advised to me by a friend of mine who only deals with fish stuff.
In his opinion we are in the presence of "protozoans" who gave rise to a slight bacterial secondary infection ( that is what in his opinion the white "pimples " are, bacteria ).

Now most of the other guys here were telling me to use copper, which I really would try to avoid.

I disconnected the UV and took the carbon out. Made a substantial water change and then undertook the medication which consists of:

- Bassler Formula ( a mixture of Methylene Blue, Malachite Green and Formaldehide ) at 1 ml per 100 litres of water,

- Nifurpirinol ( large spectre antibiotic )- brand name Baktopur Direct.

Now lets just keep close watch...in 3 days I do a substantial change of water and repeat medication at half dose.
