Skunk loaches

I had a pair of skunk loaches in my tank but i removed one because it was very aggressive to the other. Well now the non aggressive loach is not eating the snails and the population is rising.

Should skunch loaches be multiple or can i have a single and if i can have a single what can i do about the snails? :cry:
 
They do better in small groups, when you just have a couple the dominant fish tends to become a bit of a bully as you've found. If they're well-fed they usually don't eat many snails either. You could try the old 9 volt battery trick but you'd have to remove all the fish first...

just wondering what is the nine volt trick???? :confused:

Its an old aquarists trick to get rid of snails. Basically you remove all the fish from the tank, take a 9 volt battery and stick a small length of wire in the positive and negative connectors and dip the wires into the tank. Leave this for a few hours and you should see a lot of dead snails! It does work but it can leave the water with an od of copper so its best to run some activated carbon in the filter while you do it....
 
how about just adding some salt to the tank perhaps???
