woohoooooo!!!!!!
well.. sorta.. the bucket is now a tub.. but i dont have to pick it up unless its empty...

this has been the standard way to empty the tank since the second water change... i did it once with buckets and that was also the last time..
the reason for the tub in the bathtub is because my fish are small and stupid

after i make sure no one went for a ride i just syphon it into the tub and down the drain

the i just hook the hose up to the most wonderful thing ever invented.. $4 at homedepot... its for putting a handwand showerhead in the shower.. i guess thats for people in wheelchairs/elderly or just for the ladies.. perfect temp and all i need to do is push/pull the knob to turn it on/off

then i move the tub a lil closer to the tanks and fill it up

then my spare/oversized pump (rio 14HF 840 1' 660 4'.... more than i need... for now :) ) takes care of filling the tank back up in like 4 seconds... one of these days ill make some sort of a spraybar but for now my hand works

dechlorinater..

i know people just treat the tank and then add tap water.. but im not willing to risk it going wrong

Oh, ic ic, I just always put the water straight from the faucet to my tank. Figure if it's fine for me to drink it, it's safe for my fish. Never had a problem so far. :)

Your kidding us right?! :screwy:

Then by that thinking you wouldn't mind drinking the water just before a water change since they have to. :D

hmmmm. you should just put some kind of screen/gaurd on your cyphon so your fish dont get sucked in and direct the water going out your window into your garden or yard which ever you prefer, lol. much easier.

I just start the cyphon and stick it out my window into my driveway. then i have a pything that i just fill it back up with

i got a bravo from dr joe *blush*

as for the screen.. if it went out the window i would.. but my landlord pays the water bill and lives about 2 feet away from me... hes is also the one who takes care of the lawn... i dumped water on the lawn a few times... holycow.. thickest greenest grass ever seen in my life... him too.. i watched him stand there looking at it scratching his head... he even went and got his wife and showed her... after that i stoped putting it on the lawn.. if it wasnt for the 100% language barrier between us im sure we could talk about it.. but for now... down the drain it goes

SO if you med the tank before you put the water in from the tap is that fine. Or shold it get mixed up before it goes into the tank. B/c what I do is med the tank before or durring the fill up and just add the water to the dies of the tank that the FX5 outlet is on. then use the hose also to mixe it up a little bit. Is that not good practice I know its prolly not the best but b/c the water is still moving b/c all the filters are not off just the HOB filters. I figured It would be fine ?
