Em, where are you? SAVE THAT SHARKY!!!

Thank you for posting. He has been given the most polite warning I am capable of delivering. Will wait on his response.

To whom it may concern;
It has come to my attention recently, that some of the items you have listed for auction,have caused concern in a number of individual buyers. Specifically, the 500gal tank you have listed, which shows a sub-adult Black-Tip Shark is most disturbing. Now though I am not certain whether or not you are still currently holding this animal in such a small enclosure, one thing is for certain, and that is that the tank it is currently displayed in, is one much too small for a growing animal of this size. When housing sharks, the general rule of thumb is to make sure the enclosure is at minimum 2 1/2 times wider than the shark will be long at full adult size, and 3-4x's longer than the shark will be. By keeping an animal like a shark in an environment far too small, you are not only endangering the health of this animal, but you are advertising and advocating poor husbandry. I sincerely hope this shark has been moved to a much larger tank.
Thank you,
Emileigh C.

He could be refferring to the whole system so the 500 gallons could be from the tank and sump together. Either way this is horribly cruel and I wish there were more laws to help prevent this from happening or to those stupid people who don't care have some type of penalty and education.

BTW, according to the provided dimensions, the tank isn't quite 450 gals.

Just what I was looking at.

im no visual or surveying expert but if that tank is 18'' top to bottom should that shark only be like 2.5 feet long? :confused:

Dear water_baby83,

why do you cry? Do you think I care about what you think? Save your words for someone who cares you tress hugger. I am just making money and dont care what you think. I actually house fish in tanks they can barely move around in. It's a display and acceptable.

Ok- from the looks of the Ebay ad - it looks as if the seller is just selling the Tank - not the Shark.

Actually based on visual observation - I would guess the Blacktip Reef Shark looks to be to be only about 24" long (which is still too small for that tank). A 3-4 Blacktip reef wouldn't last very long(likely die within lesss than a month) in a tank that size. A Blacktip reef pup of just 2 ft long could at least last a little while - although it would already be very tight for it.

The tank actually has a total volume of about 450 gallons(instead of 500).

Ken - Obviously we were posting our replies at the same time so you didn't see what I just posted... That was that seller's response to me. By the way, I am pretty sure I preserved the "RESPOND" button as an active link so everyone should send this person a response.
As far as me? - - -
