i was thinking about turning this 125 fw i just bought to a ray tank but i also may use it as a place for my sw predators untill i get my own place to set up something bigger for them currently its got two canister and a wetdry filter..my question is can i use theses canisters for sw or do i have to buy certain filters...and also if i can use them would i have to change out all the filter media and replace them? also would i have to clean out the filters good getting rid of any residue in there? heres the pictures of the filteration i no i can use the wet dry just wondering about the canisters i currently do not have the tank i am picking it up this weekend but he told me he used it for african cichlids

Yes, you can use the same filters. The wet/dry won't work as a refrigum but that's not a neccessity, it can still work as a regular wet/dry. You will need some additional pieces of equipment like a protein skimmer and a UV sterilizer. Just make sure that you clean them out pretty good. Personally, I would replace the media but they can be used to quickly seed your tank.

yeah i deff will replace all media...any suggestions on a protien skimmer becuase i am aware of one going right into the wet dry along with the heater but i never used a wet dry b4 my reef tank just has a fluval 405 and a hang on protien skimmer also uv sterilizer can u point me in the right direction of them and how they work best ones to buy thanks i apreciate your feedback and anyone elses

For a protein skimmer, I like the AquaC EV-120. Its a little pricey but it works great! And it can either go in your sump or next to it (inline). For UV sterilizer, I like the Gamma UV Sterilizer by Current. Just be sure that you get one with enough wattage for the size of your tank.

now also this is not going to be a reef tank it will be a FOWLR tank i will not need any special lighting right?

I'm a bit of light freak, so I tend to have a lot. I really like the retrofit lights by USA Current. Very inexpensive but they work great! The only thing is, they are made solely for canopies. Since it's not a reef tank, you shouldn't need halide lighting.

corallife super skimmer 125 (kinda lame name but get's the job done :D)

instead of bio balls just use live rock rubble

thanks for the input everyone i apreciate it i think i am going to make it a fowler
stock list ive bin thinking of is a
zebra moray
emporer angel
lionfish
maybe a puffer if i do this tank it wil eventually upgrade to a 300 gal

emporer will need more than a 125.. wait for the 300 gall...

also the puffers and angels may nip at the lion's fins

well i fig i would get the emporer as a juvy so it will take at least a year to upgrade hopefully and may skip on the puffer just something to keep the gf happy lol

well just got it home it was a pain VERY heavy any suggestions on cycling it?? i never had to cycle my 75 gal reef cus i took the water with it so any help would be apreciated i plan on taking all the gravel out and giving the tank a good scrubbing before starting anything also
