The pleco and the midavil - A sad story

So I got home yesterday and found my pleco (One Eyed Willy) missing the lower half of his body.

While I am not 100% sure it was my Bertha (the midavil) I have a feeling it was her. She is about 5 to 6 inches now. (Precious my female gold saum who is about 4 to 5 inches and my male convict who is about 3 inches). I just can't picture how it happened though.

Bertha has been a very calm and gentle fish for the most part. I was quite suprised to find this.
 
its possible he died and they all picked at him? how big was the pleco?
 
I'm sorry to hear that. It very well could have been your Midavil especially because, from her size, it sounds like she recently hit breeding age and might have laid some eggs.

Good point I will have to check that. The rest of my fish are normal (i.e. no shreddage or bite marks or anything)
