First off I want to say thanks to chompers for helping me with pretty much all of the cutting that needed to be done for the sump.
(That's not Chompers in the pic by the way)
I recently acquired a 300 gallon acrylic tank for $200.
Here she is

I am almost finished building the sump for it. It is a 55 gallon tank I got for free.

I resealed it and and made this bad boy. It's not finished yet, but I'm close.

There is an MD1800 on it that I bought from Chompers. (along with the bio disks)

There is also over 200 pot scrubbies, 10 lbs of bio disks, and 100 or so bioballs.

I put the pot scrubbies on the bottom because they have the most surface area and would get the most water being there.

I also put bioballs in between each scrubbie so that no space went to waste.

I made lids for the top of the 55g. I'm in the process of cutting out the holes for the pipes.

I love Home Depot by the way.

I am using cinderblock for the stand because I don't have time to make one right now and I am in the middle of moving. I need to set this baby up quick so I can transfer my 240 gallon fish to it and move that tank. I will eventually make a stand and canopy. And buff out the acrylic. But i need my fish moved.

This is going into my new fish room. I have a room dedicated to the fish now so I'm happy. Although my 240 gallon is going out in the rec room. And my 15 planted in the kitchen. But most of my tanks will be in this room.

The 40 gallon breeder with the Python is going to go in front of the window.

I just found my set of hole saws, so if the one you have isn't big enough for the pipe/bulkheads just let me know. When you get the lids finished, you can jump start cycling the filter by filling it partially, circulating it back to itself, and then cleaning other filters in it. I have a sponge filter that is over due for cleaning. I was going to use it for the gar/bowfin tank but you can have the gunk if you need it.

Thanks Chompers, I just went to Home Depot yesterday and picked up 2 hole saw fittings.....
I ended up resealing the tray with silicone. It holds like a champ now.

very nice find and build on the 55 sump, i like the very clean look, also are the drip trays permanent in there or can you detach them for cleaning the bottom of the sump? i like the mounts you used to hold the trays, i can't wait to see it setup under the tank running, once again good job.

Thanks M&D.
Yes, it's all detachable. The filter tray slips right out of the top. There are holes drilled into the white plastic shelves so that I can latch the tray and the shelving together so that it doesn't move around. Also the white egg crate at the bottom is resting on plastic cabinet pegs and can be pulled out. I just took the pegs that are suppose to go into the holes in cabinets and pointed them up. You can see them in the close-up picture. Ended up leaving me with a 4 mil. shelf on each side. The tray fit right in like a glove. I love Home Depot.... thanks for the interest.

On a side note. I ended up removing the shelving for the tray today and moving them 1 inch down to save on space.

It looks pretty good =] Can't wait to see how it turns out!! See you did decide to go with the scrubbies!!

I drove around to every Family Dollar in a 15 mile distance for two weeks to get all of those bad boys. I did ended up buying a bunch of bio balls at Fishy Business that day I saw you. They're the blue ones at the top. The blue ones mixed in with the scrubbies and the disks were Chomper's.

I'll be able to set this all up once I go to Home Depot and buy some foam for under the sump and tank.
