I have a 90 gallon tank. I took a lot of risk in mixing fish people usually don't recommend and after trail and error I have american and african cichlids with a few oddball fish. I plan on buying a new tank within the year for the Pacu and Arrowanna to grow in and the Ornate Bichir when it gets larger also. I am looking for large unique fish to add to my collection. Or a really colorful or unique gentle giant. I try to add the kinds of fish that other very plain people don't usually own - or can't even keep because there tank isn't big enough. I want to WOW people when they see my tank. I want them to ask me: "What is that? That's so cool!" - I was wondering if I could mix in an African Lemon Cichlid with these others, or would it be too aggressive compared to my others?? :nilly:

I have:
One small Frontosa (C. sp. "North" Burundi Type)
Two small Rainbowfish
One almost medium Black Ghost Knife (unknown species)
Three adult Upside Down Catfish
One 1.5in Angelfish
One medium Blood Parrot Hybrid
One small Red Bellied Pacu
((And an Ornate Bichir and Arrowanna to come soon))

That is definitely an oddball tank....

Well, first off that Pacu is going to need a large tank... and not just a 125g or a 180g, probably more along the lines of 210 or a 240g. They get big. The knife also gets fairly large, but should be fine in a 180g. Fronts get large as well...

I don't really know what to suggest... many of the fish you are keeping prefer to be kept in groups (of their own species).

IMO, you should wait to upgrade your tank, then think about new fish.

Hahaha! Thanks....that is what I was going for, a unique oddball tank-what ppl don't usually expect..ha
I am going to get a 300 soon and I will think about it then. :)
I'll stick with the fish i have for now and just add some frontosa and an angel since they grow slower.

Do you think the BGK when it get bigger will be okay with the large Pacu??

I'm thinking the rainbowfish will eventually get eaten by the front, pacu, or parrot, unless they're a species larger than 4 in...

Yes - that I what I'm thinkin too - I am not sure what kind they are though!
Maybe you can help: they are green on top with a line across the middle horizontally (blue?) and little bit green on bottom but mostly white.....when they look really happy they get a brilliant yellow on their head - and their is blue on their tail.

And - do I always have to reply back personally on my post?? Whenever someone replies that is.

and the front, pacu and blood will all be moved to a bigger tank when that time comes.

The rainbow sounds like a Bosemani (boesmani? not sure how to spell it).

Ah, I've had one of those. Awesome fish. Never had any yellow on it though?
