Ok, so I got a bunch of free Java moss from work they were getting ready to toss. I decided to try to do a moss carpet. I went to Michael's Art's and Craft's and found this plastic mesh for .39 per 11x14" sheets. I bought two sheets of it. Took my moss, laid it out on one of the sheets, and put the other on top. Now the holes in the mesh looked a little small to me so on the top layer I cut holes and slits in it to make it a little easier for the moss to grow through. Once I had that done I used monofilament fishing line to tie the perimeter of it and I made one tie in the center. Once I did that I marked where I'd tied with a sharpie and cut off the excess. So hopefully in a few weeks I'll start to have a nice thick carpet of java moss rooted firmly to this plastic mesh. The best thing about doing it this way is it's movable (working on a bigger tank now for my planted tank) and once it's established and rooted I can cut contours in it to fit it where I want in my tank. I'll be updating this thread periodically with growth updates. Wish me luck. btw it'll be under 216w of T5-HO (and then 432 when I move it to the 72
